The cost of a website is directly related to the amount of time it takes to design and build all the necessary components.
Because of this, it's difficult to provide a set price for a website until we see your requirements. We recommend you request a quote so we can give you an accurate estimate.
Development time is influenced by a number of factors. Here we try to break it down for you so you can choose what is most useful to your site and work within your budget.
Note: Common to all packages are hosting and domain name fees. Most domain names like '.com' and '.org' are charged at the web developer rate of £10/year while hosting costs will depend on the following factors:
Use the prices below to get a rough idea of the cost of your site. Bear in mind we offer loyalty and new account discounts to customers who stick with us (contact us for details).
These prices give you an idea of the cost of static sites and additional pages.
Out of all the sites we do, these are our most economical and are a good option for clients who don't foresee their content changing much. However, they are also the least flexible because you will need us to update the site for you (charged at an hourly rate - see below). If you want more control of your content, you'll be more interested in a CMS (see below).
| Description | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Static site (3 pages) | £449 | Three pages with a maximum of five images on each page. Once the design and layout are agreed, this option allows for a few further simple changes, like swapping images and altering the colour scheme but not altering the layout. This option requires OneSizeUp updates the site (charged at hourly rate) - if you want to edit content yourself, consider investing in a CMS (see below) |
| Static site (5 pages) | £599 | Five pages with a maximum of seven images on each page. Once the design and layout are agreed, this option allows for a few further simple changes, like swapping images and altering the colour scheme but not altering the layout. Unless you wish to edit code yourself, this option requires OneSizeUp updates the site (charged at hourly rate). |
| Static site (8 pages) | £699 | Eight pages with a maximum of 10 images on each page. Once the design and layout are agreed, this option allows for a few further simple changes, like swapping images and altering the colour scheme but not altering the layout. Unless you wish to edit code yourself, this option requires OneSizeUp updates the site (charged at hourly rate). |
| Additional pages / images | £49 / £15 | Extra pages do not include additional images nor getting us to write copy for you. If you want us to source images for you, they cost £15 per image. We will find three images for you to choose from for each image you want (i.e. if you want three images, we'll find nine for you to choose from - three for each type of image). Additional features like writing copy are shown below or charged at our hourly rate. |
If you want to edit content on your site yourself, then a Content Management System (CMS) is what you need.
This is our most popular type of site for businesses and clients who wish to change their content more than a few times a month as it cheaper than getting us to make the changes.
We can either build a simple CMS for you or, as is more common because it reduces costs, build the website using an Open Source technology like Wordpress, Joomla or Textpattern.
The following table gives you a basic idea of the starting price of a CMS. Additional features such as flash animations, accessibility-compliance and streaming video are charged at our hourly rate (below). Please get in touch if you're unsure of how our pricing scheme will apply to your project.
| Feature | Price | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Blog installation | £1999 | This gives you a basic blog installation built on an opensource software like Wordpress or Textpattern that is styled according to your needs. Clients on a tight budget tend to choose this option as a cheaper alternative to a full CMS as it can be used as a CMS with limited functionality and is easier to maintain. As with the CMS option, this doesn't include Flash animation or features other than those that come with the core installation. |
| Basic CMS installation | £2299 | This gives you a basic CMS built on opensource software like Joomla or Concrete5 that is styled according to your needs. It will let you do things like create pages, add text, images and link to documents you've uploaded. It doesn't include Flash animation or any other features apart from those that come with the core installation, however, this is usually enough for most people's needs. Additional features should be requested early on so the right system can be chosen or made. |
| CMS training | £349 | We will provide email and phone support for three months following the launch of your site. However, if you would prefer us to teach you how to use your CMS so you can get up to speed quickly, you can request a presentation which are charged per half day (4 hours). Please contact us for more details. |
| Video tutorials | £75 each | Understanding how a CMS works can be daunting - particularly if you only have a printed or electronic manual at hand to learn from. However, video tutorials are a far better way of seeing exactly how to do the various tasks you'll be doing frequently. The screen is recorded while tasks are being carried out and then we upload the videos to a particular page for you to view them (we also provide you with a DVD of the videos). |
| Ecommerce package | From £2999 | We can implement an ecommerce site based on one of a number of popular software packages or build one from scratch to meet your exact requirements (charged at our hourly rate). Normally, we recommend the former option as often an existing package will have all the features necessary, be cheaper and have a proven track-record with successful businesses. If all you want is a way to include products on a page with a simple payment facility like PayPal, then we recommend you consider a basic CMS or blog with a shopping cart feature as it will considerably reduce the cost. |
| Tailor-made CMS | £Call | If you want a tailor-made CMS, we can build it for you to meet all your functionality and design requirements, but will need to know your requirements for now and in the future. This route takes more time than buying a prebuilt system as it requires more coding and planning, but you will end up with a system that is perfect for your needs. |
| Additional features | £Hourly rate | Additional features (such as shopping carts, flash animations, contact forms etc. are charged at our hourly rate - see below). |
Below are some example prices for additional features for your site, and are entirely optional.
Ordering additional features can quickly add up, so think carefully about what features you really need to maximize return from your site. If you need help choosing, just give us a call.
| Feature | Price | What is it? |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics | £FREE | We will integrate Google Analytics into your site for free so you can monitor traffic and other statistics of your site. Please note you will need a Gmail account to use this (we'll set you up with one if you haven't already registered - again, for free) |
| Integrated Google services | £99 | Choose this option if you would like us to set up your site with email addresses using the popular Google interface (Standard Google Apps edition). Your email addresses will appear as from 'yourname@domainname.com' meaning if your domain name is www.abcdesigns.com, then you can set up email addresses from info@abcdesigns.com etc. Also included are the suite of tools you get with a Google account such as an online word processor, spreadsheet application and calendar. |
| Website banners | £150 each | We've created a number of Flash-based and more simple animated gif banners for clients such as YoungMinds, Burts Bees, Emmanuel Jal and CCLA. If you wish to see previous examples, please contact us and we'll prepare a selection for you to browse through. |
| Logo design | £99 | This service includes the design of five logos for you to choose from. When the designs are complete, you can ask for some final adjustments of your chosen logo and we'll let you keep the designs you don't want for free. |
| Contact form | £99 | A simple form that will let you receive visitors' emails directly from your site. An important part of any site. |
| Photo gallery | £349 | A photo gallery that will need to be updated by us. If you want to add photos yourself, you'll need a Content Management System (see below). |
| Social bookmarking | £99 | We can integrate links to every page of your website to allow users to flag them up on social bookmarking sites like Facebook and Google bookmarks. This is a great option if your audience is young or you want to increase traffic. |
| Google Maps / Calendar in your site | £149 | Choose this option if you want to include a map showing your address like on the Google Maps website. We can also embed your Google calendar into a page on your site meaning you can flag events up to your visitors. |
| Newsletters | £349 + | If you want to send out newsletters to your customers/clients effectively, we can help you choose an appropriate package with a third-party and set up a form so customers' details are put into the system directly. There are a number of options to choose from, so please contact us to discuss this option further. Prices start at £349 |
| Other features | £hourly rate | Other features such as adding flash animation to your site are charged for at our hourly rate - see below. |
Different features take different amounts of time to develop. For example, a contact form is a simpler feature to develop than a fully-integrated shopping cart for an ecommerce site. As such, please request a quote so we can accurately provide you with a total figure.
| Feature | Price | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly rate | £30 | General rate for things like: PHP/MySQL programming; XHTML; CSS; design; flash animation development; writing search engine-friendly copy; webhost admin (security updates and patches); SEO optimisation; and setting up email accounts. |
